In numerology the day gives birthday number 2. The Life Path also uses the birth year. Leo is fixed and fire. ## Key facts | Fact | Value | | --- | --- | | Sun sign | Leo in every year from 1930 to 2030 | | Decan | Leo decan 3 (Mars) | | Sun's position at noon UTC | About 27° Leo | | Leo · element · modality · ruler | Fire · Fixed · Sun | | Birthday number | 20 → 2 | | Life Path by birth year | 1960: 8 · 1970: 9 · 1980: 1 · 1990: 11 · 2000: 3 · 2010: 4 · 2020: 5 | | Chinese zodiac | After Lunar New Year, so the animal is the birth year's own | | Born on this day | Benjamin Harrison (1833), Demi Lovato (1992), H. Mars still sub-rules the decan, so the energy is warm and active, but it tends to flow into partnership: championing a spouse, a co-founder, a best friend. Traditional readings describe a loyal ally who fights fiercely for the people beside them. By noon UTC on August 20, the Sun has normally reached roughly 27° of Leo. That places the date in the Leo decan that astrologers give to Mars, the third of three. The final third of Leo sits under Mars, ruler of Aries, and so mid-to-late August birthdays tend to carry the most forceful version of the sign. Courage, competitiveness and a readiness to defend people or principles are commonly associated with this decan. These Leos often lead from the front and prefer action to ceremony. Mars can make the temper quick and the pride prickly, especially when they feel challenged in public. The same fire gives them stamina for long campaigns. Channelling it into a cause bigger than personal recognition is often where this decan does its most memorable work. ## Numerology of the August 20 birthday A birthday on the 20th reduces as 2 + 0 = 2, giving a birthday number of 2. The 0 is often read as amplifying the 2, intensifying its sensitivity, diplomacy and emotional awareness. Those born on the 20th are frequently described as intuitive companions and natural team members, attuned to atmosphere and moods. They may pick up the feeling in a room before anyone has spoken. As a secondary number in the chart, the 20 tends to show in close relationships and group work. Protecting their own energy, and saying no kindly, is a recurring theme for this birthday. Because the year enters the Life Path calculation, the same August 20 birthday leads to different paths across generations, among them 1 for 1980, 11 for 1990, 3 for 2000 and 4 for 2010. Some birth years on this date reach the master number 11. The Life Path calculator does the reduction for any year. ## August 20 in context: the season, Chinese zodiac and famous birthdays An August birthday falls in late northern summer, a season of early harvests and holidays, and in late winter for the southern hemisphere, when the first blossom starts to appear. Leo holds most of the month, with Virgo arriving around August 22 or 23. August is month 8 in numerology, associated with ambition, authority and material skill, a fitting partner for Leo's confidence. August 20 is the 232nd day of the year (233rd in a leap year). In most years Virgo season is under way by August 23, 3 days after this birthday. Chinese astrology is straightforward for an August 20 birthday: the new year began weeks earlier, so the birth year's own animal applies. August 20 is also the birthday of Benjamin Harrison (1833), Demi Lovato (1992) and H. P. Lovecraft (1890). ## Frequently asked questions ### What zodiac sign is August 20?
