Warmth, pride and creative confidence come forward. Twelve reduces to 3, the expressive number, which suits this sunny decan especially well. The combined reading is a natural entertainer, generous with attention and happiest when a crowd is laughing along. On December 12 the Sun usually sits at about 20° Sagittarius, in the third decan, where Sun is the sub-ruler alongside Jupiter. The Sun, ruler of Leo, governs the closing ten degrees of Sagittarius, from about December 12 to December 21. Here the Archer's idealism meets a warm, theatrical streak. Natives of this decan are often described as inspiring, expressive and happiest when sharing big ideas with an audience, whether in a classroom, on a stage or around a long dinner table. Pride and a wish for recognition may sit alongside their generosity. When this decan's fire is aimed at lifting others, it tends to make learning feel like a celebration rather than a lecture, and a crowd feel like a community. ## December 12 in numerology A birthday on the 12th reduces as 1 + 2 = 3, so the birthday number is 3, but the compound holds two stories at once. The 1 brings self-direction and the 2 brings cooperation, and together they produce the 3's expressive, sociable energy. Twelfth-of-the-month natives are often described as communicators who can lead a conversation and also make space for others in it. As with every day number, this is a secondary influence beside the Life Path. Its particular gift tends to be creative work that depends on teamwork, where one voice sets the tone and many voices fill it out. The Life Path, the main number in a numerology chart, also uses the birth year, so it changes from one December 12 birthday to the next: it is 4 for 1960, 5 for 1970, 6 for 1980 and 7 for 1990, for example. Some birth years on this date reach the master number 11. ## Born on December 12: season, famous birthdays and Chinese zodiac December birthdays arrive at the start of northern winter, around the shortest days and the year's festivities, and at the start of summer in the southern hemisphere. Sagittarius holds most of the month, with Capricorn beginning around December 21 or 22. In numerology December is month 12, which reduces to 3: expression and sociability, built from the 1 and 2 of initiative and partnership. December 12 is the 346th day of the year (347th in a leap year). By December 22, 10 days later, the Sun has usually moved on into Capricorn. For the Chinese zodiac, Lunar New Year has always passed by December 12, so the animal is simply the one for the birth year. Well-known people born on December 12 include Gustave Flaubert (1821), Frank Sinatra (1915) and Edvard Munch (1863). ## Frequently asked questions ### What zodiac sign is December 12?
