In numerology the day gives birthday number 7. The Life Path also uses the birth year. Sagittarius is mutable and fire. ## Key facts | Fact | Value | | --- | --- | | Sun sign | Sagittarius in every year from 1930 to 2030 | | Decan | Sagittarius decan 3 (Sun) | | Sun's position at noon UTC | About 24° Sagittarius | | Sagittarius · element · modality · ruler | Fire · Mutable · Jupiter | | Birthday number | 16 → 7 | | Life Path by birth year | 1960: 8 · 1970: 9 · 1980: 1 · 1990: 11 · 2000: 3 · 2010: 4 · 2020: 5 | | Chinese zodiac | After Lunar New Year, so the animal is the birth year's own | | Born on this day | Jane Austen (1775), Arthur C. The Sun at about twenty-four degrees sits in the decan sub-ruled by the Sun, linked with creative self-expression. Together they suggest a thoughtful creator who works through big philosophical questions in private and shares the results through writing, art or teaching. By noon UTC on December 16, the Sun has normally reached roughly 24° of Sagittarius. That places the date in the Sagittarius decan that astrologers give to Sun, the third of three. The Sun, ruler of Leo, governs the closing ten degrees of Sagittarius, from about December 12 to December 21. Here the Archer's idealism meets a warm, theatrical streak. Natives of this decan are often described as inspiring, expressive and happiest when sharing big ideas with an audience, whether in a classroom, on a stage or around a long dinner table. Pride and a wish for recognition may sit alongside their generosity. When this decan's fire is aimed at lifting others, it tends to make learning feel like a celebration rather than a lecture, and a crowd feel like a community. ## Numerology of the December 16 birthday A birthday on the 16th reduces as 1 + 6 = 7, giving a birthday number of 7. In the compound, the 1 of the individual meets the 6 of home and responsibility, and the result is the 7's reflective, searching mind. Numerologists sometimes list 16 as a karmic debt number, linked with humility and rebuilding after the collapse of an outdated self-image. Those born on this day are often described as introspective, intuitive and capable of real personal reinvention. The day number is secondary, but in the 16 it frequently marks a rich inner life and a habit of questioning appearances. Because the year enters the Life Path calculation, the same December 16 birthday leads to different paths across generations, among them 1 for 1980, 11 for 1990, 3 for 2000 and 4 for 2010. Some birth years on this date reach the master number 11. The Life Path calculator does the reduction for any year. ## December 16 in context: the season, Chinese zodiac and famous birthdays December birthdays arrive at the start of northern winter, around the shortest days and the year's festivities, and at the start of summer in the southern hemisphere. Sagittarius holds most of the month, with Capricorn beginning around December 21 or 22. In numerology December is month 12, which reduces to 3: expression and sociability, built from the 1 and 2 of initiative and partnership. December 16 is the 350th day of the year (351st in a leap year). In most years Capricorn season is under way by December 22, 6 days after this birthday. Chinese astrology is straightforward for a December 16 birthday: the new year began weeks earlier, so the birth year's own animal applies. December 16 is also the birthday of Jane Austen (1775), Arthur C. Clarke (1917) and Margaret Mead (1901). ## Frequently asked questions ### What zodiac sign is December 16?
