In numerology the day gives birthday number 22, while the Life Path also depends on the birth year. Many people born on cusp dates recognise something of both signs. ## Key facts | Fact | Value | | --- | --- | | Sun sign | Sagittarius or Capricorn: a cusp date, so the birth year, time and place decide | | Decan | Sagittarius decan 3 (Sun) or Capricorn decan 1 (Saturn) | | Sun's position at noon UTC | About 0° Capricorn | | Capricorn · element · modality · ruler | Earth · Cardinal · Saturn | | Birthday number | 22 | | Life Path by birth year | 1960: 5 · 1970: 33 · 1980: 7 · 1990: 8 · 2000: 9 · 2010: 1 · 2020: 11 | | Chinese zodiac | After Lunar New Year, so the animal is the birth year's own | | Born on this day | Basshunter (1984), Giacomo Puccini (1858), Srinivasa Ramanujan (1887) | ## Personality of a December 22 birthday Capricorn season usually begins on December 22, though some years and birth times still place the Sun in late Sagittarius. In most years it sits at zero degrees of Capricorn, where Saturn rules both sign and decan. Paired with the master number 22, the builder, this is one of the most structurally ambitious combinations on the calendar. By noon UTC on December 22, the Sun has normally reached roughly 0° of Capricorn. That places the date in the Capricorn decan that astrologers give to Saturn, the first of three. Birthdays around December 20 to December 22 fall on the Sagittarius–Capricorn cusp, near the December solstice. Mutable fire meets cardinal earth, and optimism meets ambition. Which sign the Sun was actually in depends on the year, time and birthplace, as the moment of ingress varies; a chart for your exact details is the way to confirm it. Those who carry both energies are often described as visionaries with a plan, people who dream large and then build methodically. They may swing between restlessness and serious focus, and both modes tend to serve them. ## Numerology of the December 22 birthday A birthday on the 22nd gives a birthday number of 22, a master number that is traditionally kept unreduced. Sometimes called the Master Builder, 22 combines the 2's cooperation with the 4's practicality on a larger scale, suggesting an ability to turn big visions into working structures. Even in the secondary position of a birth day, it is given weight in numerology. People born on this day are often described as idealistic planners, capable of organising many people towards a shared goal. Pressure can come with that potential, so pacing themselves tends to matter a great deal. Because the year enters the Life Path calculation, the same December 22 birthday leads to different paths across generations, among them 7 for 1980, 8 for 1990, 9 for 2000 and 1 for 2010. Some birth years on this date reach the master numbers 11 and 33. The Life Path calculator does the reduction for any year. ## December 22 in context: the season, Chinese zodiac and famous birthdays December birthdays arrive at the start of northern winter, around the shortest days and the year's festivities, and at the start of summer in the southern hemisphere. Sagittarius holds most of the month, with Capricorn beginning around December 21 or 22. In numerology December is month 12, which reduces to 3: expression and sociability, built from the 1 and 2 of initiative and partnership. December 22 is the 356th day of the year (357th in a leap year). In most years Aquarius season is under way by January 21, 30 days after this birthday. Chinese astrology is straightforward for a December 22 birthday: the new year began weeks earlier, so the birth year's own animal applies. December 22 is also the birthday of Basshunter (1984), Giacomo Puccini (1858) and Srinivasa Ramanujan (1887). ## Frequently asked questions ### What zodiac sign is December 22?
