Responsibility is a strong theme, reinforced by the birthday number 6, linked with family and care. Interpretively, this is the person who makes sure everyone is fed, the house is warm and traditions continue, often while celebrating their own birthday quietly. On December 24 the Sun usually sits at about 2° Capricorn, in the first decan, where Saturn rules the decan as well as the sign. Saturn rules Capricorn and also governs the sign's first decan, which spans roughly December 22 to December 31. Birthdays here arrive at the turning point of the year, and this decan is traditionally read as the sign in its most concentrated form: patient, ambitious, realistic and willing to climb slowly. Responsibility often arrives early in life for these natives. Doubled Saturn can make them hard on themselves and reluctant to rest until the work is complete. Their quiet authority tends to grow with age, and humour, usually dry, is one of the ways they lighten what they carry. ## December 24 in numerology A birthday on the 24th reduces as 2 + 4 = 6. The compound combines the 2's emotional attentiveness and the 4's reliability, feeding into the 6's devotion to home and community. Those born on this day are often described as dependable carers: the one who brings soup, fixes the shelf and remembers what you said last month. Stability in family life tends to matter a great deal to them. As a secondary number, the 24 points towards a gift for creating safe, well-run spaces. Accepting help in return is often their quiet area of growth. The Life Path, the main number in a numerology chart, also uses the birth year, so it changes from one December 24 birthday to the next: it is 7 for 1960, 8 for 1970, 9 for 1980 and 1 for 1990, for example. Some birth years on this date reach the master number 11. ## Born on December 24: season, famous birthdays and Chinese zodiac December birthdays arrive at the start of northern winter, around the shortest days and the year's festivities, and at the start of summer in the southern hemisphere. Sagittarius holds most of the month, with Capricorn beginning around December 21 or 22. In numerology December is month 12, which reduces to 3: expression and sociability, built from the 1 and 2 of initiative and partnership. December 24 is the 358th day of the year (359th in a leap year). By January 21, 28 days later, the Sun has usually moved on into Aquarius. For the Chinese zodiac, Lunar New Year has always passed by December 24, so the animal is simply the one for the birth year. Well-known people born on December 24 include James Prescott Joule (1818), Adam Mickiewicz (1798) and Ilham Aliyev (1961). ## Frequently asked questions ### What zodiac sign is December 24?
