Day 1 brings numerology's initiating energy, so this birthday is frequently associated with intellectual leadership: someone who starts the conversation, names the problem first and does not wait for consensus before sharing an unusual opinion. On February 1 the Sun usually sits at about 12° Aquarius, in the second decan, where Mercury is the sub-ruler alongside Uranus. Between 10 and 19 degrees of Aquarius the sub-ruler is Mercury, the ruler of Gemini. Birthdays from around January 30 to February 8 tend to bring a quick, communicative intelligence to the sign's idealism. Natives are often seen as witty, curious and well networked, the kind of person who knows someone in every group and enjoys connecting them. Writing, teaching and technical problem-solving are commonly associated with this decan. Mercury can make the mind race ahead of the body and the heart. Slowing down long enough to listen as well as explain usually deepens their many connections. ## February 1 in numerology Born on the 1st, your birthday number is a plain 1, with no compound behind it. In Pythagorean numerology the day of birth is a secondary number, a talent or flavour that sits alongside the Life Path rather than replacing it. A first-of-the-month birthday is traditionally read as the purest form of initiative: a self-starting streak, a preference for making decisions personally and a comfort with going first. Because there is nothing to reduce, the energy is often described as direct and uncomplicated. The usual counsel is to pair that independence with listening, so leadership does not become lonely. The Life Path, the main number in a numerology chart, also uses the birth year, so it changes from one February 1 birthday to the next: it is 1 for 1960, 11 for 1970, 3 for 1980 and 4 for 1990, for example. Some birth years on this date reach the master number 11. ## Born on February 1: season, famous birthdays and Chinese zodiac February birthdays land in late winter for the northern hemisphere, when the light is visibly returning, and in late summer for the southern. The month moves from Aquarius into Pisces around February 18 or 19, from airy idealism to watery imagination. February is month 2 in numerology, a number of partnership, tact and sensitivity, which tends to give these birthdays a cooperative, quietly perceptive undertone. February 1 is the 32nd day of the year. By February 19, 18 days later, the Sun has usually moved on into Pisces. For the Chinese zodiac, February 1 sits inside the Lunar New Year window: in 47 of the 121 years from 1924 to 2044 the new year has already begun by this date, so check the year before choosing an animal. Well-known people born on February 1 include Boris Yeltsin (1931), Clark Gable (1901) and Leymah Roberta Gbowee (1972). ## Frequently asked questions ### What zodiac sign is February 1?
