In numerology the day gives birthday number 3. The Life Path also uses the birth year. Taurus is fixed and earth. ## Key facts | Fact | Value | | --- | --- | | Sun sign | Taurus in every year from 1930 to 2030 | | Decan | Taurus decan 2 (Mercury) or Taurus decan 3 (Saturn) | | Sun's position at noon UTC | About 21° Taurus | | Taurus · element · modality · ruler | Earth · Fixed · Venus | | Birthday number | 12 → 3 | | Life Path by birth year | 1960: 6 · 1970: 7 · 1980: 8 · 1990: 9 · 2000: 1 · 2010: 11 · 2020: 3 | | Chinese zodiac | After Lunar New Year, so the animal is the birth year's own | | Born on this day | Florence Nightingale (1820), Katharine Hepburn (1907), Jiddu Krishnamurti (1895) | ## The May 12 birthday in astrology Saturn's sobriety and the playful number 3 make an interesting couple on May 12th. Twenty-one degrees into Taurus, in the decan traditionally sub-ruled by Capricorn's planet, this birthday is often associated with craft: art that is also well made, humour that has been rehearsed. Expression matters here, but so does doing it properly, and the two impulses tend to sharpen each other. Astronomically, May 12 puts the Sun near 21° Taurus in most years, inside the third ten-degree slice of the sign, which tradition links with Saturn. The closing decan of Taurus answers to Saturn, ruler of Capricorn, and this lends the sign's earthiness a long-range, structural quality. Instead of only enjoying what is solid, mid-May natives are often drawn to building it: savings, institutions, skills that compound over decades. Astrologers tend to call them serious, reliable and quietly ambitious, with a dry humour that surfaces once trust is established. Saturn can also bring a heavier sense of duty and a habit of postponing pleasure until some imagined finish line. Remembering that Taurus is a Venus sign first can help, because rest and beauty belong inside the structure too. ## Birthday number and Life Path for May 12 A birthday on the 12th reduces as 1 + 2 = 3, so the birthday number is 3, but the compound holds two stories at once. The 1 brings self-direction and the 2 brings cooperation, and together they produce the 3's expressive, sociable energy. Twelfth-of-the-month natives are often described as communicators who can lead a conversation and also make space for others in it. As with every day number, this is a secondary influence beside the Life Path. Its particular gift tends to be creative work that depends on teamwork, where one voice sets the tone and many voices fill it out. Add the birth year and the picture shifts again: a May 12 birthday gives Life Path 9 for 1990, 1 for 2000, 11 for 2010 and 3 for 2020. Some birth years on this date reach the master number 11. Read the birthday number as a secondary note beside that main theme. ## Season, Chinese zodiac and famous May 12 birthdays May brings late spring in the northern hemisphere, a season of blossom and long evenings, and late autumn to the southern. Taurus holds the first three weeks, with Gemini arriving around May 20 or 21. In numerology May is month 5, the number of freedom, curiosity and change, which tends to give these birthdays a restless, experimental streak beneath the calm Taurean surface. May 12 is the 132nd day of the year (133rd in a leap year). Counting forward, the next sign change, into Gemini, is usually complete within 9 days, by May 21. By May 12 the Chinese new year is well under way, which means the animal and element are those of the calendar birth year. Among the best-known people with a May 12 birthday are Florence Nightingale (1820), Katharine Hepburn (1907) and Jiddu Krishnamurti (1895). ## Frequently asked questions ### What zodiac sign is May 12?
