Six tends to point towards responsibility for others, and the Mercury-flavoured second decan adds practical good sense. Interpretive traditions describe a natural keeper of households and friendships, generous with time, though sometimes slow to ask for help in return. Astronomically, May 6 puts the Sun near 15° Taurus in most years, inside the second ten-degree slice of the sign, which tradition links with Mercury. Mercury, the ruler of Virgo, acts as sub-ruler for Taurus between 10 and 19 degrees, roughly the first ten days of May. That pairing brings a practical intelligence to the sign's patience. These Taureans are frequently pictured as craftspeople at heart: they like to learn how something works, refine it and make it last. Speech tends to be measured and grounded in specifics. The Virgoan undertone can add a critical eye, which is helpful in a workshop or a spreadsheet and sometimes less welcome at the dinner table. Their gift is turning ideas into durable, useful things that other people can rely on for years. ## Birthday number and Life Path for May 6 A birthday on the 6th produces a birthday number of 6, unreduced. As the secondary number in a chart, the day of birth hints at how someone naturally contributes to the people around them. The 6 is the number of the household in Pythagorean tradition: care, responsibility, beauty in the home and fairness within the family. Those born on the 6th are often the friend who remembers birthdays and notices when someone is struggling. Their usual lesson is that looking after others works best when they include themselves in the circle of care too. Add the birth year and the picture shifts again: a May 6 birthday gives Life Path 3 for 1990, 4 for 2000, 5 for 2010 and 6 for 2020. Some birth years on this date reach the master numbers 22 and 33. Read the birthday number as a secondary note beside that main theme. ## Season, Chinese zodiac and famous May 6 birthdays May brings late spring in the northern hemisphere, a season of blossom and long evenings, and late autumn to the southern. Taurus holds the first three weeks, with Gemini arriving around May 20 or 21. In numerology May is month 5, the number of freedom, curiosity and change, which tends to give these birthdays a restless, experimental streak beneath the calm Taurean surface. May 6 is the 126th day of the year (127th in a leap year). Counting forward, the next sign change, into Gemini, is usually complete within 15 days, by May 21. By May 6 the Chinese new year is well under way, which means the animal and element are those of the calendar birth year. Among the best-known people with a May 6 birthday are Sigmund Freud (1856), Tony Blair (1953) and Maximilien Robespierre (1758). ## Frequently asked questions ### What zodiac sign is May 6?
