In numerology the day gives birthday number 2. The Life Path also uses the birth year. Virgo is mutable and earth. ## Key facts | Fact | Value | | --- | --- | | Sun sign | Virgo in every year from 1930 to 2030 | | Decan | Virgo decan 1 (Mercury) or Virgo decan 2 (Saturn) | | Sun's position at noon UTC | About 9° Virgo | | Virgo · element · modality · ruler | Earth · Mutable · Mercury | | Birthday number | 2 | | Life Path by birth year | 1960: 9 · 1970: 1 · 1980: 2 · 1990: 3 · 2000: 4 · 2010: 5 · 2020: 6 | | Chinese zodiac | After Lunar New Year, so the animal is the birth year's own | | Born on this day | Keanu Reeves (1964), Salma Hayek (1966), Wilhelm Ostwald (1853) | ## The September 2 birthday in astrology A quiet competence runs through the 2nd of September. With the Sun near nine degrees of Virgo, still inside the Mercury-ruled first decan, the analytical streak is strong, yet the birthday number 2 softens it into tact. People with this date are often the colleague who edits your draft gently, pointing out the gap while making it sound like your own idea. Astronomically, September 2 puts the Sun near 9° Virgo in most years, inside the first ten-degree slice of the sign, which tradition links with Mercury. Mercury rules Virgo and also governs its opening decan, from about August 23 to September 2. Doubled Mercury in an earth sign points towards analysis, method and a talent for noticing the detail everyone else walked past. People with these birthdays are often called helpful, articulate and quietly witty, with high standards for their own work. The flip side is a busy mind that can turn on itself, cataloguing flaws long after the job is done. Their best gift tends to be useful precision: making a system clearer, a text tighter or a routine kinder to the people who follow it. ## Birthday number and Life Path for September 2 A birthday on the 2nd gives a birthday number of 2, unreduced and simple. Numerologists treat the day of birth as a secondary influence, a natural skill that colours the main Life Path without overriding it. The 2 is the number of the pair, so it is traditionally linked with tact, sensitivity and an instinct for what other people need. Someone born on this day may be the quiet mediator in a group, noticing tension long before it surfaces. The challenge often described for 2s is voicing their own view rather than adjusting it to keep the peace. Add the birth year and the picture shifts again: a September 2 birthday gives Life Path 3 for 1990, 4 for 2000, 5 for 2010 and 6 for 2020. Some birth years on this date reach the master numbers 22 and 33. Read the birthday number as a secondary note beside that main theme. ## Season, Chinese zodiac and famous September 2 birthdays A September birthday arrives at the turn into autumn for the northern hemisphere, a season of new terms and gathering in, and at the start of spring in the southern. Virgo occupies most of the month, with Libra taking over around September 22 or 23, near the equinox. September is month 9 in numerology, the number of completion, compassion and a broad, humanitarian outlook. September 2 is the 245th day of the year (246th in a leap year). Counting forward, the next sign change, into Libra, is usually complete within 21 days, by September 23. By September 2 the Chinese new year is well under way, which means the animal and element are those of the calendar birth year. Among the best-known people with a September 2 birthday are Keanu Reeves (1964), Salma Hayek (1966) and Wilhelm Ostwald (1853). ## Frequently asked questions ### What zodiac sign is September 2?
