The stations are computed from the ephemeris in UTC. Mars retrogrades about every twenty-six months. The period is a frame for review, not a prediction. ## Key facts | Fact | Value | | --- | --- | | Periods touching 2027 | 1 | | station retrograde | January 10, 2027, 13:01 UTC, at 10°26′ Virgo | | station direct | April 1, 2027, 14:11 UTC, at 20°56′ Leo | | signs covered | Virgo → Leo | | length | 81 days | | Shadow zone | 20°56′ Leo to 10°26′ Virgo | | Coordinates · clock | Geocentric tropical longitude of date · UTC | ## Mars retrograde dates in 2027 Mars is retrograde once touching 2027: from January 10, 2027 (13:01 UTC) at 10°26′ Virgo to April 1, 2027 (14:11 UTC) at 20°56′ Leo, 81 days. Across the year the retrograde motion covers Virgo and Leo. Each period has a shadow, the span of degrees the planet crosses forward, then backward, then forward again. In 2027 that span is 20°56′ Leo to 10°26′ Virgo. The pre-shadow begins when the planet first reaches the direct-station degree, before the retrograde station, and the post-shadow ends when it returns to the retrograde-station degree. ## What Mars retrograde traditionally means Mars is drive, anger, effort and the way we go after what we want. It retrogrades about every two years for two to two and a half months, the longest of the inner planets, and astrologers read the period as a slowdown of momentum: projects stall, energy turns inward, frustration builds, and the question becomes whether the direction was right in the first place. Rather than forcing progress, the traditional advice is to use the time to rebuild strategy, finish unfinished fights, recover physically and decide what is worth the effort. Many astrologers note that anger during a Mars retrograde often points at something old; it is a good moment to ask what the current irritation is really about before acting on it. ## What to review while Mars is retrograde Review the goals you set for the year and drop the ones you no longer want, finish or formally abandon a stalled project, pace exercise and recovery, and postpone a confrontation unless it cannot wait. Those with the Sun, Moon or rising sign in Virgo and Leo are the ones the tradition singles out; each sign's 2027 page lists its dates. Times are UTC, so a station near midnight can fall on the neighbouring date where you live. ## The 2027 astrology calendar - [2027 astrology calendar](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/2027) - [Mercury retrograde 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/mercury-retrograde-2027) - [Mars retrograde 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/mars-retrograde-2027) - [Jupiter retrograde 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/jupiter-retrograde-2027) - [Saturn retrograde 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/saturn-retrograde-2027) - [Uranus retrograde 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/uranus-retrograde-2027) - [Neptune retrograde 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/neptune-retrograde-2027) - [Pluto retrograde 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/pluto-retrograde-2027) - [Eclipses in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/eclipses-2027) - [New and full Moons in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/new-and-full-moons-2027) ## Every sign in 2027 - [Aries in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/2027/aries) - [Taurus in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/2027/taurus) - [Gemini in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/2027/gemini) - [Cancer in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/2027/cancer) - [Leo in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/2027/leo) - [Virgo in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/2027/virgo) - [Libra in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/2027/libra) - [Scorpio in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/2027/scorpio) - [Sagittarius in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/2027/sagittarius) - [Capricorn in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/2027/capricorn) - [Aquarius in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/2027/aquarius) - [Pisces in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/2027/pisces) ## Frequently asked questions ### When is Mars retrograde in 2027?
