The stations are computed from the ephemeris in UTC. Neptune retrogrades every year for about five months. The period is a frame for review, not a prediction. ## Key facts | Fact | Value | | --- | --- | | Periods touching 2027 | 1 | | station retrograde | July 9, 2027, 22:50 UTC, at 6°40′ Aries | | station direct | December 15, 2027, 09:43 UTC, at 3°52′ Aries | | signs covered | Aries | | length | 158 days | | Shadow zone | 3°52′ Aries to 6°40′ Aries | | Coordinates · clock | Geocentric tropical longitude of date · UTC | ## Neptune retrograde dates in 2027 Neptune is retrograde once touching 2027: from July 9, 2027 (22:50 UTC) at 6°40′ Aries to December 15, 2027 (09:43 UTC) at 3°52′ Aries, 158 days. In total Neptune moves backwards through Aries this year. The shadow zone is the stretch of the zodiac the planet crosses three times: forward before the retrograde station, backwards during the period, then forward again after the direct station. In 2027 that span is 3°52′ Aries to 6°40′ Aries. The pre-shadow begins when the planet first reaches the direct-station degree, before the retrograde station, and the post-shadow ends when it returns to the retrograde-station degree. The previous period ended on December 12, 2026 and the next begins on July 11, 2028. ## What Neptune retrograde traditionally means Neptune is imagination, compassion, faith and the dissolving of boundaries, and also confusion, escapism and idealised pictures of people. It retrogrades for about five months a year. Astrologers read the period as a thinning of the fog: an illusion that was comfortable earlier in the year becomes harder to maintain, and what you had been hoping was true gets tested against what is. The tradition pairs it with clearer sight about relationships, addictions and dreams, and with creative work that benefits from revision. It is often described as a good stretch for therapy, for art, for prayer or meditation and for honest accounting, and a poor one for believing a story because you want it to be true. ## What to review while Neptune is retrograde Check a hope against the evidence, name a habit you use to avoid feeling something, revise creative work rather than starting a new piece, and notice whom you have been idealising and whom you have been underrating. If your Sun, Moon or rising sign is Aries, astrologers would say the period touches a personal point; the 2027 sign pages list the dates for each sign. Times are UTC, so a station near midnight can fall on the neighbouring date where you live. ## The 2027 astrology calendar - [2027 astrology calendar](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/2027) - [Mercury retrograde 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/mercury-retrograde-2027) - [Mars retrograde 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/mars-retrograde-2027) - [Jupiter retrograde 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/jupiter-retrograde-2027) - [Saturn retrograde 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/saturn-retrograde-2027) - [Uranus retrograde 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/uranus-retrograde-2027) - [Neptune retrograde 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/neptune-retrograde-2027) - [Pluto retrograde 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/pluto-retrograde-2027) - [Eclipses in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/eclipses-2027) - [New and full Moons in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/new-and-full-moons-2027) ## Every sign in 2027 - [Aries in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/2027/aries) - [Taurus in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/2027/taurus) - [Gemini in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/2027/gemini) - [Cancer in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/2027/cancer) - [Leo in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/2027/leo) - [Virgo in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/2027/virgo) - [Libra in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/2027/libra) - [Scorpio in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/2027/scorpio) - [Sagittarius in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/2027/sagittarius) - [Capricorn in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/2027/capricorn) - [Aquarius in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/2027/aquarius) - [Pisces in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/2027/pisces) ## Frequently asked questions ### When is Neptune retrograde in 2027? The degrees between the direct station and the retrograde station, crossed three times. In 2027 it is 3°52′ Aries to 6°40′ Aries. ### Does Neptune actually move backwards? No. The apparent reversal comes from Earth and Neptune moving at different speeds on their orbits, like a slower car seeming to slide backwards as you pass it. Astrology works with the appearance from Earth, and the dates here are computed from that geocentric view. ## Related pages - [2027 astrology calendar](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/2027) - [Mercury retrograde 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/mercury-retrograde-2027) - [Mars retrograde 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/mars-retrograde-2027) - [Jupiter retrograde 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/jupiter-retrograde-2027) - [Saturn retrograde 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/saturn-retrograde-2027) - [Uranus retrograde 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/uranus-retrograde-2027) - [Pluto retrograde 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/pluto-retrograde-2027) - [Eclipses in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/eclipses-2027) - [New and full Moons in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/new-and-full-moons-2027) - [Neptune](https://unifiedreading.com/astrology/neptune) - [Neptune in Aries](https://unifiedreading.com/zodiac/neptune-in-aries) - [Aries in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/2027/aries) ## About Unified Reading Unified Reading combines Pythagorean numerology, the Western Sun sign (Moon and rising with a birth time), the Chinese zodiac and life-stage context in one reading.
