The stations are computed from the ephemeris in UTC. Pluto retrogrades every year for about five months and moves back only two or three degrees. The period is a frame for review, not a prediction. ## Key facts | Fact | Value | | --- | --- | | Periods touching 2027 | 1 | | station retrograde | May 8, 2027, 12:15 UTC, at 7°11′ Aquarius | | station direct | October 18, 2027, 03:51 UTC, at 4°45′ Aquarius | | signs covered | Aquarius | | length | 163 days | | Shadow zone | 4°45′ Aquarius to 7°11′ Aquarius | | Coordinates · clock | Geocentric tropical longitude of date · UTC | ## Pluto retrograde dates in 2027 Pluto is retrograde once touching 2027: from May 8, 2027 (12:15 UTC) at 7°11′ Aquarius to October 18, 2027 (03:51 UTC) at 4°45′ Aquarius, 163 days. The signs involved are Aquarius. Astrologers also watch the shadow, the degrees the planet covers before, during and after the period, because it passes over them three times. In 2027 that span is 4°45′ Aquarius to 7°11′ Aquarius. The pre-shadow begins when the planet first reaches the direct-station degree, before the retrograde station, and the post-shadow ends when it returns to the retrograde-station degree. The previous period ended on October 16, 2026 and the next begins on May 9, 2028. ## What Pluto retrograde traditionally means Pluto is power, transformation, depth and the things we would rather not look at, and it moves so slowly that its retrograde of about five months a year is part of its ordinary rhythm. Astrologers read the period as a turning inward of that transformative pressure: the structures that were being pulled apart earlier in the year get examined from the inside, and buried motives come up for review. The tradition associates it with honest work on control, obsession and fear, with releasing what has already ended, and with research into what lies underneath a recurring situation. Pluto retrograde is often described as a season for the psychological part of change, before the visible part resumes. ## What to review while Pluto is retrograde Write down what you are trying to control and why, close something that has already ended in everything but name, look at a recurring conflict for its deeper pattern, and let a power struggle rest until the direct station. The retrograde runs through Aquarius, so people with placements there are traditionally said to feel it most directly; see the 2027 page for each sign. Times are UTC, so a station near midnight can fall on the neighbouring date where you live. ## The 2027 astrology calendar - [2027 astrology calendar](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/2027) - [Mercury retrograde 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/mercury-retrograde-2027) - [Mars retrograde 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/mars-retrograde-2027) - [Jupiter retrograde 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/jupiter-retrograde-2027) - [Saturn retrograde 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/saturn-retrograde-2027) - [Uranus retrograde 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/uranus-retrograde-2027) - [Neptune retrograde 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/neptune-retrograde-2027) - [Pluto retrograde 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/pluto-retrograde-2027) - [Eclipses in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/eclipses-2027) - [New and full Moons in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/new-and-full-moons-2027) ## Every sign in 2027 - [Aries in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/2027/aries) - [Taurus in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/2027/taurus) - [Gemini in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/2027/gemini) - [Cancer in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/2027/cancer) - [Leo in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/2027/leo) - [Virgo in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/2027/virgo) - [Libra in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/2027/libra) - [Scorpio in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/2027/scorpio) - [Sagittarius in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/2027/sagittarius) - [Capricorn in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/2027/capricorn) - [Aquarius in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/2027/aquarius) - [Pisces in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/2027/pisces) ## Frequently asked questions ### When is Pluto retrograde in 2027? May 8, 2027 (12:15 UTC) at 7°11′ Aquarius to October 18, 2027 (03:51 UTC) at 4°45′ Aquarius. The key facts table gives the length of each period. ### What sign is Pluto retrograde in during 2027? It stations retrograde at 7°11′ Aquarius and direct at 4°45′ Aquarius, so the period covers Aquarius. ### How often is Pluto retrograde? Pluto retrogrades every year for about five months and moves back only two or three degrees, so its retrograde periods overlap heavily with its stay in one sign. ### What is the Pluto retrograde shadow? The degrees between the direct station and the retrograde station, crossed three times. In 2027 it is 4°45′ Aquarius to 7°11′ Aquarius. ### Does Pluto actually move backwards? No. The apparent reversal comes from Earth and Pluto moving at different speeds on their orbits, like a slower car seeming to slide backwards as you pass it. Astrology works with the appearance from Earth, and the dates here are computed from that geocentric view. ## Related pages - [2027 astrology calendar](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/2027) - [Mercury retrograde 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/mercury-retrograde-2027) - [Mars retrograde 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/mars-retrograde-2027) - [Jupiter retrograde 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/jupiter-retrograde-2027) - [Saturn retrograde 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/saturn-retrograde-2027) - [Uranus retrograde 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/uranus-retrograde-2027) - [Neptune retrograde 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/neptune-retrograde-2027) - [Eclipses in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/eclipses-2027) - [New and full Moons in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/sky/new-and-full-moons-2027) - [Pluto](https://unifiedreading.com/astrology/pluto) - [Pluto in Aquarius](https://unifiedreading.com/zodiac/pluto-in-aquarius) - [Aquarius in 2027](https://unifiedreading.com/2027/aquarius) ## About Unified Reading Unified Reading combines Pythagorean numerology, the Western Sun sign (Moon and rising with a birth time), the Chinese zodiac and life-stage context in one reading.
