October 2 zodiac sign and personality
Partnership is practically the theme tune of October 2. Nine degrees of Libra is the last degree of the Venus decan, and the birthday number 2 is numerology's symbol of cooperation and sensitivity. With both systems pointing towards relationship, this date is associated with excellent listeners and natural mediators, though the traditional lesson is to voice one's own preferences sooner.
On October 2 the Sun usually sits at about 9° Libra, in the first decan, where Venus rules the decan as well as the sign. Libra's first decan, from about September 23 to October 2, holds Venus as both sign ruler and sub-ruler. This is traditionally the most graceful and relationship-minded part of the sign. Fairness, harmony and aesthetic sense are emphasised, along with a gift for making guests feel welcome. Those born here often weigh every side of a decision, which makes them good mediators and occasionally slow choosers. The doubled Venus influence can also lead to avoiding conflict at the cost of honesty. Growth often arrives with the discovery that a fair outcome sometimes requires an uncomfortable conversation first.
October 2 in numerology
A birthday on the 2nd gives a birthday number of 2, unreduced and simple. Numerologists treat the day of birth as a secondary influence, a natural skill that colours the main Life Path without overriding it. The 2 is the number of the pair, so it is traditionally linked with tact, sensitivity and an instinct for what other people need. Someone born on this day may be the quiet mediator in a group, noticing tension long before it surfaces. The challenge often described for 2s is voicing their own view rather than adjusting it to keep the peace.
The Life Path, the main number in a numerology chart, also uses the birth year, so it changes from one October 2 birthday to the next: it is 1 for 1960, 11 for 1970, 3 for 1980 and 4 for 1990, for example. Some birth years on this date reach the master number 11.
Born on October 2: season, famous birthdays and Chinese zodiac
October birthdays fall in mid-autumn north of the equator, with turning leaves and earlier evenings, and in mid-spring in the southern hemisphere. Libra holds most of the month, with Scorpio arriving around October 23. In numerology October is month 10, which reduces to 1: a number of new starts and independence, carried here with a 0 that is often read as amplifying it. October 2 is the 275th day of the year (276th in a leap year). By October 24, 22 days later, the Sun has usually moved on into Scorpio.
For the Chinese zodiac, Lunar New Year has always passed by October 2, so the animal is simply the one for the birth year. Well-known people born on October 2 include Mahatma Gandhi (1869), Graham Greene (1904) and Sting (1951).
